Optimization functions of one variable

In this first section we discuss the optimization of functions of one variable. We start with the notion of monotonicity in order to come to the concepts of a minimum and a maximum of a function. Subsequently, we discuss several criteria to find these extreme values.

Required preknowledge: Chapter 1: Functions of one variable and Chapter 2: Differentiation of functions of one variable.
